Old barracks atmosphere

Koy Tykkimiehenraitti is a complex of four apartment buildings in the Hyrylä Regiment Park in Tuusula, in the former garrison area. The area is of historical value and this needed to be taken into account throughout the design. There are also several protected buildings in the area. Homes are being built in the area for a total of about 15,000 new residents and is one of the most significant new residential areas in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. The area will have good services, recreational opportunities and transport connections. Nearby is a forest, a sports park and, in winter, cross-country ski routes.

The buildings of the Regiment Park are brick-clad throughout and the facades are kept as clear as possible. The goal was to preserve as much as possible the atmosphere of the old barracks and, at the same time, create the clear urban spirit of a new city area. Brick themes familiar from the old garrison architecture have been added to the façade, albeit with a modern feel to it. These include highlights around the windows and stripes connecting the window fields throughout the facade. The back walls of the balconies are beautifully wood-clad. The bases of the balconies are made of grooved concrete, which has the same groove pattern as in the board cladding of the balconies. On the ground floor, around the entrances, the façade material is perforated steel.

Modern town homes

The four buildings will have a total of 144 apartments with an average area of 46.0 m². According to the current demand, the apartments range from studios with a balcony, a two-room and three-room apartments. Parking spaces will be located in the parking garage next to the building.
