“Titaani”, Kivistö

Apartment building Titaani is located at the juncture of Keimolantie street and the tree-lined Kivistö street. The goal was to create a modern, pedestrian-friendly cityscape and a strong city feel. The developer is TA-Asunnot Oy who  wanted right-of-occupancy apartments. The building offers a total of 77 apartments.

The building dominates the junction of two streets with its solid presence. The area’s outer perimeter was to be built in brick and the buildings themselves sporting a lot of colour. As the apartment blocks on the northern side used colours abundantly, we decided that the way to go with Titaani was to emphasise contrast – black brick was juxtaposed with predominantly white inner courtyard and with vivid orange accents. There is also a parking house in the yard area which is clad in corten steel that fits in nicely with this “contrast” colour scheme.

The porte cochère from the road to the courtyard

The porte cochère leads into the courtyard from Keimolantie road and the Keltasafiirinpolku path runs throughout the area and along the lower part of the building complex. Here are the automated vacuum waste collection points and communal club spaces. Berry Creative Oy was responsible for the original artwork of the project – the design of the big, cast iron gate forged by the master blacksmith Jouko Nieminen.
