Okhta Mall

Okhta Mall is located in the center of St. Petersburg in the so-called Septem City area, which is easily accessible thanks to good transport connections. The largest shopping center in St. Petersburg takes its name from the Okhta River that flows next to it. The shopping center consists of four above-ground floors and two basement floors. The underground floors house parking, a hypermarket and the shopping center’s maintenance facilities. The above-ground floors contain more than 250 retail units, totaling approximately 75,000 m². The total area of the shopping center is approximately 145,000 m² and its volume almost one million m³.

The starting point for the building’s architecture was a modern, Scandinavian look whose fresh distinctiveness ties the area together in a positive way and creates a natural focal point for it. Scandinavian here refers to minimalist, function-based design combined with brightness and spaciousness. The aim has been to offer visitors not only a comprehensive range of services but also an engaging and entertaining experience.

Award-winning shopping center

Okhta Mall has been recognized for its ecological approach, architecture and marketing. Okhta Mall is the first shopping center in Russia to be awarded LEED Gold certification. In addition, it has won European Property Awards in both the shopping center architecture and project marketing categories. The European Property Awards are considered one of the most prestigious real estate awards in Europe.

An interesting and large-scale project

When it opened, Okhta Mall was the largest shopping center in St. Petersburg and one of our firm’s largest projects. Despite its size, it is very clear and logical. Its oval-shaped main concourse is 400 m long, the length of a running track. Cross aisles and escalators divide the oval main concourse into sections, constantly offering new views. In the design phase, it presented an interesting challenge, as there was a record number of drawing lists, each in both an English and a Russian version. Reportedly, an apartment building project felt small after this.
