Lauri Korpisen katu Lidl
A seamless part of an urban campus
The Lidl store forms part of the Jokiniemi campus, whose landmark is the office building on Lauri Korpisen katu. The store is integrated into the first floor of the parking garage, right along the campus’s pedestrian flows and close to Tikkurila station.
Its location southeast of Tikkurila train station and the Dixi shopping center, close to the future tram line, makes the store easily accessible to both local residents and campus employees. Everyday services are literally located at the junction of workplaces and public transport.
The bright store of approximately 1,400 m² opens onto the street, punctuated by brick and glass. The ground-level materials and scale tie the retail space into the architectural ensemble of the office building; the first floor and stairwells of the parking garage continue the brick-clad look of the office building, so that the block is perceived as a unified whole.
62 parking spaces on the second floor of the parking garage are reserved for the store’s customers, with accessible spaces located near the elevator. Clear routes connect the parking, the store and the other functions of the campus. Technically, the store forms its own fire compartment, and the heated spaces are connected to an energy-efficient geothermal system.
Lidl complements the range of services on the campus and reinforces the idea of a dense, mixed-use urban structure that supports sustainable mobility.
