Albertinkatu 30 – New life for office spaces as a hotel
Albertinkatu 30 is a 6+2-story office building originally completed in 1959 as the headquarters of Oy Veikkaus Ab. In 2007, the property underwent a major transformation when it was converted into a modern 95-room hotel.
At the heart of the design was adapting the clean-lined architecture of the 1950s to a demanding hotel environment. The project required creative space planning solutions to convert the former office rooms and corridors into functional and atmospheric hotel rooms while respecting the original spirit of the building.
Sokos Hotel Albert is known especially for its cozy atmosphere. It draws inspiration from the trendy surrounding residential area of Punavuori, its galleries and the local street-level culture. The street level of the building opens up to the urban environment with its restaurant and lobby services, making it a natural part of Helsinki’s “Design District”.
