Renewal of a heritage property

We acted as principal designer for the renovation of the Grand Marina hotel, which covered the hotel floors and the 1st-floor restaurant and meeting facilities. The project included a total of 470 hotel rooms, whose interiors and bathrooms underwent a complete transformation. The design was carried out in collaboration with the hotel operator’s interior designer.

We were responsible for modernizing the hotel’s bathrooms as part of a wider renovation of the building services. At the core of our design work was updating the bathrooms to meet today’s standards in their current locations while respecting the historic setting. Our assignment included comprehensive concept, schematic and fixed furniture design as well as the selection of surface materials and colors.

Particular attention was paid to the climate impact of the design: we carried out comparative calculations of the carbon footprint (GWP) of different material options, enabling sustainable and life-cycle-efficient solutions without compromising on quality or atmosphere.
