Koskela Tammi

The project is located in Koskela, Helsinki, on the site of a former hospital area, where supplementary construction was made possible through a zoning amendment.

Koskela Tammi forms part of a block located at the edge of a park. The block comprises four apartment buildings with a shared courtyard and an underground parking facility. Three of the four residential buildings are part of the Kehittyvä Kerrostalo (“Developing Apartment Building”) programme, which aims to improve the quality and attractiveness of apartment living and to explore new housing solutions.

Senior Apartments based on the LLC Concept

Koskela Tammi is the first project based on the Liberty Life Concept (LLC), in which the building is divided into different housing typologies. One wing of the building contains 47 owner-occupied apartments specifically designed for seniors, while the other wing comprises 47 rental apartments intended for the open market. Shareholders of the senior housing wing may, if they wish, purchase a rental apartment in the other wing to help finance potential care services later in life.

The senior apartments have been designed with the needs of ageing residents in mind. Particular attention has been paid to ease of movement between spaces, outward views, and generous private balconies, as well as to the naturally increasing need for services as residents grow older.
