Bus terminal

A new terminal at the heart of Espoo Center

A new bus terminal is being built next to Espoontori, significantly transforming public transport in the area. With the change, bus traffic will move from Siltakatu mainly to Sihteerinkatu, and Espoontori will offer direct access to the new terminal. We were responsible for designing the bus shelter located in the terminal area between Espoontori and the station.

Nine departure platforms and smooth connections

The terminal will have nine departure platforms and six arrival platforms. The approximately 100-meter-long steel canopy is a key part of the area’s renewal, which aims to make travel chains smoother and improve accessibility. New accessible elevator and escalator connections are integrated into the western end of the canopy, linking the terminal naturally to the existing Espoonsilta bridge.

Smooth mobility and greenery

The design focuses on safety and comfort. Special attention has been paid to lighting so that the travel environment feels clear and safe at all times of day. An extensive green roof brings much-needed greenery to an otherwise densely built urban environment and also helps manage stormwater from the large canopy area.
