“Mosaic” block
  Service Center

Part of a Vibrant Urban Block

The Mosaic block service center is part of a new, distinctive city block designed for diverse urban living. The zoning plan for the area was approved in January 2023.

The block consists of sculptural building volumes with sloping roofs and varying heights, creating a recognizable new ensemble that complements the existing dense urban fabric. The new service building defines Mosaiikkitori Square with its elongated, meandering form.

Functional and Flexible Ground Floor

The ground floor of the service building opens toward Mosaiikkitori Square and the surrounding pedestrian routes.

With the addition of the service building, Mosaiikkitori becomes clearly defined as a public square.

The reference plan for the care facility’s ground floor includes possibilities for a daycare with its own yard, community spaces for residents, as well as restaurant and retail premises.

The diverse commercial and service functions, along with outdoor and courtyard spaces, create a lively and active urban environment and enable a long and adaptable lifecycle for the building.

Opportunities within the Service Building

The building can accommodate various types of enhanced assisted living and service housing. It features a limited rooftop terrace. The spaces open toward Mosaiikkitori and the courtyard, and shared balconies can be added on the courtyard side.
